It was the easiest “yes” of my life.

WHEN AND WHERE DID YOU MEET?
We first met when we wear 5 years old. Boston’s dad was the hockey coach for Bishop McCort, and my older brother played for him. The hockey team and their family members used to share a charter bus to go to the away games. We always sat together, and we would color and eat snacks that my grandma packed us. We were best friends. We went to separate elementary/middle schools but (awkwardly) reconnected in 8th grade for a dance. The picture from our 8th grade formal is a GREAT one. We started dating in 9th grade at Bishop McCort, and the rest is history. We’re coming up on our 10 year anniversary which is crazy to think about. We still enjoy a good coloring and snack session every once in awhile 🙂

TELL US ABOUT YOUR FIRST DATE!
Our first official date was on Valentine’s Day when we were in 9th grade. It was actually a double date with Boston’s older sister, Lily, and her then boyfriend, now husband, Brad. We went to Fuji in the Galleria mall. After dinner, we did donuts in the parking lot, and my parents pulled up right beside us to pick me up. Brad was a little nervous my parents would be mad, but they just laughed and still talk about that today.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING TO DO TOGETHER?
We’ve been doing long distance for the last year and a half which is a HUGE change when we’ve lived 20 minutes away from each other for the past 8 years. Over this last year and a half, we figured out that we just really enjoy spending time with each other. It doesn’t matter what we’re doing as long as we’re together. But… anything involving eating ice cream or donuts is an added bonus.

WHEN DID YOU KNOW HE/SHE WAS THE ONE?
I asked Boston this question … and we both had the same answer. Neither of us ever really had that “ah-ha” moment. He’s my best friend. I knew that when I was a little girl. I knew that in high school. I know that now. You need someone who can make you laugh. You need someone whose voice can ease your worries in an instant. You need someone who is going to challenge you to grow and support you during all your adventures. You need someone who feels like home. He’s my person. I couldn’t imagine my life without him.

HOW DID HE PROPOSE?
We were on a trip to Ireland with his whole family and my parents. My parents decided to come on the trip waaaay before Boston knew he was going to propose. It was the third day of the trip, and we were visiting the Blarney Castle. Everyone got in line and made the climb to the top to kiss the Blarney Stone. After about an hour wait, it was my turn to kiss the stone. I laid down, leaned back and kissed it. When I came back up, Boston was on his knee asking me to marry him in front of his whole family, my parents and a huge line of people. I was SO shocked. I had no idea. It was the easiest “yes” of my life.

WHEN YOU THINK OF YOUR WEDDING DAY, WHAT DO YOU ENVISION? WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING FOR YOU?
We’re so excited to celebrate with our family and friends. We both really enjoy the time around Christmas and New Years because we get to see so many of those special people in our lives. We loved the idea of having a wedding during that time of year to add to the excitement. The most important thing for us is to celebrate our love and commitment in front of our family and friends. I am so excited to marry my best friend!!

WHY THE WILLOW?
We were very excited to hear that Corey and Mindi were creating a new wedding venue in Johnstown. As soon as I saw the plans, I knew that’s where our reception would be. It is going to be absolutely breathtaking. Every single detail was well thought out. I love the modern farmhouse feel that works with whatever theme you’re going for. Corey, Mindi and Melissa were excellent to work with during the initial process. They answered all of our questions, and I know they will continue to guide us as we get closer to the big day.
