“For our wedding day, we envision the most loving fun day spent with our friends and family.”
WHEN AND WHERE DID YOU MEET?
Although we attended the same high school, we officially met in late 2021 when Drake was in town on leave from the US Army. One afternoon we went golfing together with mutual friends. Well Drake golfed, I drove the cart and served the drinks. This was one of the first times we ever hung out and Drake insisted I wasn’t driving our golf cart fast enough. He slammed on the gas and almost smashed and tipped our cart. We were both laughing so hard and enjoying each other’s company. Despite almost wrecking our cart and injuring me, I couldn’t stop thinking about him but had no idea when he was going to be back in town if ever. After I found out that he was honorably discharged from the Army and not re-enlisting, I knew we were going to be together forever.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR FIRST DATE!
Much of our time at first was spent hanging with our friends. I was living in Pittsburgh at the time and Drake was living in Windber, only giving us the weekends to spend together. Drake and I would spend every weekend with our best friends. Any time was quality time for us.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING TO DO TOGETHER?
We love spending time with those who mean the most to us, our friends and family. Nothing can replace quality time with our people. We also enjoy riding our motorcycle and quad and soaking up the sun any chance we can get. One of our most recent favorite things to do together is to ride our bike past the Willow weekly to check on the progress. We love shopping at Lowe’s for supplies and expensive tools to complete home projects that will absolutely never get done. We also enjoy nights at home, and spending all the time with our German Shepherd son, Cash Duncan.
WHEN DID YOU KNOW HE/SHE WAS THE ONE?
For Megan, I knew Drake was the one when he fit perfectly into my life and enjoyed the same hobbies as me. I knew I wanted to spend my life with someone that would mesh with my family and friends–this was so important to me. My late grandfather was the biggest critic of his granddaughter’s boyfriends. He had all granddaughters and one grandson. He would not hide it if he didn’t like your pick, and even if he didn’t tell you he would be sure to tell everyone else. Although unfortunately he never got to meet Drake, I know in my heart my Pap would have gave his stamp of approval and would have loved him.
For Drake, I knew Meg was the one from the first time we met. She’s beautiful, funny, smart, loving, the best dog mom, and everything you could ask for in a wife. Meg is the most selfless person I have ever met. She would do anything to help anyone with no questions asked. She’s made the greatest impact on my life and I am a better man today because of her. I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with her as my wife.
HOW DID HE PROPOSE?
Drake with the help of my amazing best friends planned the perfect proposal on October 14, 2022. My only wish was to have my friends and family present to witness one of the biggest days for us. What I thought was a birthday dinner with my closest friends turned into an engagement and engagement party at Harrigan’s Cafe & Wine Deck. The night ended with popping champagne and celebrating at our friends. It was the best day ever. Forever thankful for my friends for helping Drake set everything up.
WHEN YOU THINK OF YOUR WEDDING DAY, WHAT DO YOU ENVISION? WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING FOR YOU?
For our wedding day, we envision the most loving fun day spent with our friends and family. The most important thing is saying yes to each other, and yes to forever. We are each others person, home, and safe place. There is nothing more important than committing ourselves to one another. We cannot wait to celebrate and dance all night long. This specific date also has extra special meaning. Before even getting engaged, I had said to my sister that it would be neat if I could get married on our parent’s anniversary. Little did I know that we would be engaged 2 weeks later, and that our parent’s anniversary would just happen to fall on a Saturday in 2024. Drake and I will be getting married on my parent’s anniversary which makes it all the more special. They will celebrate 33 years together on our wedding day.
WHY THE WILLOW?
We knew we wanted to get married at the Willow the second we heard it was being built. For Megan, there was no other option. We have large families, with many guests living out of town. We wanted a venue that was beautiful, large enough for all of our family, and somewhere that was centrally located for our guests to have hotel accommodations afterwards and a short drive to our families’ homes in Windber. The modern farmhouse was the look we were going for, and the Willow is the perfect spot. We cannot wait to get married overlooking the rolling hills. It was also important to us to get married at a venue where the owners make you feel at ease. Corey, Mindi, and all the staff have been nothing but amazing and helpful. It is everything we could have hoped for and more.
