Up in the hot air balloon Drake asked me to marry him and my response was “put it away you’re going to drop it!”

WHEN AND WHERE DID YOU MEET?
Drake and I are both from the Johnstown area. We lived less than 15 minutes away from each other growing up, but we never officially met until the summer of 2019 in San Diego, California when Drake came to visit his brother during one of our travel nurse assignments.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR FIRST DATE!
Fast forward to summer of 2020. On our first date, Drake picked me up at my parents house. My Dad was walking up to the house after working construction all day, Drake proceeds to say jokingly, “Are you tired? You act like it was hard wearing that tool belt all day”. I know my mom and I held our breath for a good 10 seconds. Now, this is how my dad and drake talk to each other on a daily basis. Drake and I went to the Johnstown Inn for our first date on wing night! There’s nothing like digging into a dozen messy wings on a first date lol. We also had blueberry Moscow mules, which like the children we are we proceeded to throw the blueberries across the table into the others mouths. Our waitress must have found this funny because she brought us a cup full of blueberries over to our table to continue our shenanigans. After dinner we went over to Drake’s oldest brothers house, where I was overwhelmed (in a good way) meeting 4 or 5 of Drakes brothers and their significant others.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING TO DO TOGETHER?
We love going on new adventures together. Every few months we move because of my job so we truly just enjoy experiencing new places and making those memories together. We also love playing, walking and cuddling with our puppy Riggs!

WHEN DID YOU KNOW HE/SHE WAS THE ONE?
There wasn’t an exact moment for either of us that we can recal to solidify the feeling of “being the one” but we both felt we knew each other was the one within the first 6 months of dating.

HOW DID HE PROPOSE?
Drake is such a sweetheart haha. He held onto the ring for months waiting for a perfect moment. He planned the day with a waterfall hike together (we love hiking), followed by a surprise date night. All he told me was to not wear sweatpants, and that he was going to wear nicer clothes. I was so excited when we pulled into the parking lot of a hot air balloon festival! Drake HATES hights so when he said we where going in one of the hot air ballons, I knew it had to be for a good reason! Also the fact he was slugging back beers to calm his nerves. Up in the hot air balloon Drake asked me to marry him and my response was “put it away you’re going to drop it!” Of course when we got to the ground safely, I said Yes!

WHEN YOU THINK OF YOUR WEDDING DAY, WHAT DO YOU ENVISION? WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING FOR YOU?
Drake and I both envision a big party! The most important thing we want for our day is for us and everyone else to have fun. Of course we want a beautiful ceremony, amazing food, and delicious cookies but most of all we want to have fun and party with our favorite people.

WHY THE WILLOW?
Drake and I are both from Johnstown, so it would mean the world to us to get married in our own backyard! The Willow is absolutely stunning, and the hill side view is exactly what we envisioned for a wedding for us.

Wedding Date: July 27, 2024
